As followers of Jesus, we are at war with the world, the flesh, and the devil, and the three enemies’ stratagem is as follows: Deceptive ideas (the Devil) that play to disordered desires (the Flesh) that are normalized in a sinful society (the World).

~ John Mark Comer

John 16:33 (NIV) — 33 …In this world you will have trouble.

Maybe there is an active resistance to humans thriving?

Maybe this active resistance is a manifestation of a war that we are in?

by following them you may fight the good fight… — 1 Timothy 1:18 (NIV)

…Fight the good fight of the faith. — 1 Timothy 6:12 (NIV)

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. —2 Corinthians 10:3–4 (NIV)

…Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. — Ephesians 6:11 (NIV)

…When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44 (NIV)

We all have desires and when they become disordered it leads us to a place where “feeling good becomes more important than being good”.

The world – a system of ideas, values, morals, practices, and social norms that are integrated into the mainstream and eventually institutionalized in a culture that is corrupted by the twin sins of rebellion against God and the redefinition of good and evil.

Prevailing, acceptable beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors of our culture.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, — Ephesians 6:12a (NIV)

…but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. — Ephesians 6:12b (NIV)

24 hours of prayer

With fasting, we decide of our own accord to not give our bodies what they want (food); as a result, when somebody else decides to not give us what we want (or life circumstances decide, or even God decides…), we don’t freak out, rage, or go ballistic on Twitter. We’ve trained our souls to be happy and at peace, even when we don’t get our way. This is why fasting—far from a medieval form of self-hate—when done rightly is a pathway to freedom. ~Live No Lies
