Cleansed by the blood of the Lamb

02/09/25

I will set my face against any Israelite or any foreigner residing among them who eats blood, and I will cut them off from the people. — Leviticus 17:10 (NIV)

For the life of a creature is in the blood… — Leviticus 17:11a (NIV)

For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life. — Leviticus 17:11 (NIV)

4 It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins…11 Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. — Hebrews 10:4&11 (NIV)

12 But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, — Hebrews 10:12 (NIV)

Redeemed and forgiven — Ephesians 1:7 (NIV)

Restored relationship — Ephesians 2:13 (NIV)

We are cleansed — 1 John 1:7 (NIV)

The shed blood of Christ, the perfect sacrifice, is the only way to cleanse us from our sin and restore our relationship with God.

For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. — 1 Corinthians 15:3–4 (NIV)

The shed blood of Christ, the perfect sacrifice, is the only way to cleanse us from our sin and restore our relationship with God.

For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” — 1 Corinthians 11:23–24 (NIV)

In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” — 1 Corinthians 11:26 (NIV)

For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. — 1 Corinthians 11:23–26 (NIV)

So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. — 1 Corinthians 11:27–28 (NIV)

The Bread- The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

The Cup- In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
